New Stucco Garage
in Middleburg, Virginia
Here's how we did it:
Tyvek is covered with tarpaper and self-furring metal lath.
We drilled weep holes in the plaster stop at the bottom of the wall. This controls expansion by letting water out of the wall.
The concrete is chipped about every 4 inches or so for a good bond.
More importantly, we used an acrylic bonding admixture in the mortar.
A seamless appearance with no ugly joints between the wood framing and the concrete.
Close-up of the rough random texture. The finish material is fine white sand, white portland cement and white lime.
We used styrofoam to cushion the scaffold boards on the new aluminum roof.
The brown coat on the wash. You may have just seen the finished wash on the referring page.
The wash deflects water over the stones. They also show off this is REAL stucco, and not some of the
fake garbage they put on new houses.
