How I did the fake stones

stone surround Arch is formed using plastic trim.
Side of stone surround is formed using
one by fours.		 Arch is formed using plastic trim.
Surrounds are filled with lath and mortar stones are filled.

then forms are removed.
Mortar joints are made by using tape.
Stone is done using colored mortar,
then tape is removed revealing a joint.		 Here, stones are filled.
Color and texture is varied slightly from stone to stone coated over the reddish stones

they looked right.
finish coat Here, stones are covered with tape and plastic, and finish coat applied to the wall.
