Plaster ceilings in these apartment lobbies

Here's how we did it:

Floors are protected with a layer of plastic.

Floors are protected with a layer of plastic, and then correx, plastic sheets. Correx is cut to fit and taped down. Note the home made trestle scaffold.

Scaffold is set up.

Walls are draped with plastic. Scaffold is set up to reach and touch every part of the ceiling.

Veneer basecoat

Veneer basecoat is applied and left rough for a good bond. Holes from the acoustic ceiling hangers are filled.

Damaged molding member.

Damaged molding member is hand tooled in using a 6 foot rod, or straight edge.

Pieces of cast filigree.

Pieces of cast filigree found in the tile were cleaned of paint and repaired on a bench.

Filigree is stuck on with molding plaster.

Finish coat is molding plaster and lime.

Finish coat is molding plaster and lime. Finish is troweled slicker than an eel in a barrel of grease.

Water damaged plaster moldings repaired.

We repaired the molding in the lobby next door. Water damaged areas are scraped off and filled and hand tooled with molding plaster
